A little background
In trading cards since 1997.
In business since 2010.
I’ve been selling trading cards since 2010. Somewhere along the way, that became a business with tens of thousands of individual items, different conditions, moving prices, and several marketplaces that all needed to agree on what we actually had. A perfectly reasonable thing to manage by hand, if you happen to be a Hecatoncheir. Us poor folks with only two hands need to figure out something smarter.
So I started teaching the machines what I knew about cards. A worn corner matters. So does which marketplace you’re selling on, how many copies you’re sitting on, and whether the price everyone keeps quoting has ever persuaded anyone to actually buy the thing. Multiply those little judgments by tens of thousands of items and you have a fairly good explanation for why I started building pricing systems. I like thinking about what something is worth. I’m less enthusiastic about having the same thought eight thousand times.
If you sell used or collectible goods, you probably have your own version of this mess. I can help you work through it, with experience and vision only decades of obsession can bring.
01 / The work
From a second opinion
to a system that does the work.
Automatic pricing based on real market data. Condition, version, size, language, whatever matters in your category. Built to run on its own every night, with rules you can understand and change.
Getting good data is usually the hard part. Marketplace APIs, sold listings, competitor stock. I find out what exists for your category, how reliable it is and what it costs to collect.
The same item can sell for very different money in Europe and the US. I work out which market nets the most once fees, shipping and duties are paid.
I go through your current prices and show where you're too cheap, where you're too expensive and why some things just sit there.
Pricing collections and bulk lots you're about to buy, so the offer is based on what the items actually sell for, not on hope.
A call about whatever you're stuck on. Pricing, buying, tools, or how to grow from one marketplace to several.
02 / The process
You bring the problem.
I work with you on the rest.
What, where, and roughly how many items. A short email is enough.
I look at your data and give you a price before any work starts.
You get the code or the report, documented so you can run it without me.
03 / The price of a price
Fixed quote. Agreed upfront.
Every collectibles business is a bit different. What you sell, where you sell it, how much data exists for your category and how many items you have all change what makes sense to build. A shop with 500 sneakers needs something very different from one with 80,000 trading cards.
So there's no price list. Tell me what you sell and roughly how many items, and I'll come back with a fixed quote. No surprises later.
Got a particularly interesting mess?
Send me a short email: what you sell, where, and roughly how many items. I'll get back to you within a day or two.
